Frequently Asked Questions

Who should see a chiropractor?

People of every age seek chiropractic help for a variety of conditions, including back and neck pain, headaches, sciatica, allergies or sports and work related injuries. Making sure the spine and nervous system are healthy is equally important for a newborn baby as a senior citizen.

Your nervous system controls every function in your body, including your senses, digestion, heartbeat, immunity and emotional wellbeing. Chiropractic care can stimulate the vital flow of information and energy throughout your body, increasing your body's ability to deal with injury, resist infection and heal itself. Pain and symptoms are a warning sign that something is wrong and change is necessary.

At Tasman Bay Chiropractic we offer a free spinal assessment service for those who are unsure whether chiropractic care would be suitable for them.

Do I need to see a chiropractor if I have no pain?

The object of chiropractic care is to enhance the natural healing abilities of the body by adjusting the spine. Some conditions cause pain, but many do not; pain is an indication that something is wrong and it's time to change.

Chiropractic adjustments can relieve pain but more importantly they enhance the body's ability to heal itself. Why wait until you are in pain to get your spine examined? Chiropractic care can increase your immunity, mobility, enhance sports performance, slow down problems associated with ageing and support child development.

What qualifications do chiropractors have?

Chiropractors graduate from a five year degree course. Study includes chiropractic philosophy, biology, neurology, orthopedics, radiology, clinical sciences and practical clinical experience.

In New Zealand a registration examination is conducted by the Ministry of Health's New Zealand Chiropractic Board. Members of the New Zealand Chiropractors' Association must complete a minimum number of post-graduate education hours each year.
