Your Guide To ACC
Like any insurance company ACC has guidelines we all need to abide by. If appropriate, we are happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork to start a claim. ACC will then assess your case and based on their criteria will either accept or decline it. If you do not agree with their decision you have the right to dispute this with them.
• ACC determines an accident to be a personal injury that is specified physical force to the body, following an accident with a direct consequence.
• If your injury was sustained at work, ACC requires you to document this injury at work with your employer. Should you fail to do so your claim may be declined.
• Tasman Bay Chiropractic does not determine acceptance for ACC covered patient care, ACC does. ACC also allocates the number of visits for your injury.
• Tasman Bay Chiropractic has no control over claim decisions, which means you are fully liable for any costs that you have incurred at our Centre from our services. If your claim with ACC is declined you are fully liable for all costs. We do not accept responsibility for declined claims. Our chiropractors are happy to continue with your care, normal standard fees apply.
• You are required to pay the surcharge at the time of your visit; we do not carry accounts for ACC patients.
• ACC pays part of your care costs at each visit.
• Ongoing care is not automatically extended at the end of your allocated time. Extentions can be applied for using the ACC 32 form, there is a charge for this service.
• We do not continue with claims if the injury resolves itself prior to the end of the claim.
• We are not able to claim for wellness care.
• ACC does not cover massage appointments.
• We are not able to claim for more than one visit per day.
• If your injury is more than one year old, ACC will assess your claim but is unlikely to reopen the case.
• We are able to change the diagnosis on existing claims following assessment.
• We hold travel claim forms for your use, if you travel a significant distance to our Centre.
