Your First NSA Adjustment
NSA is a gentle but effective technique; light touches are used to encourage your body to start communicating properly and heal itself. Although we initiate the adjustment process, the majority of the adjustment actually takes place after you leave our office.
Don't be surprised if you feel subtle changes like deepening of breath, cycles of relaxation or tension in your muscles, changes in mood and changes in symptom patterns. These are often observed as spinal tension unwinds. Many people report that they sleep more soundly following an adjustment.
Regardless of what you may notice, as your spinal tension unwinds your body and mind are communicating more clearly. Parts of you that have been separated begin exchanging information again, and all this translates into advancement of your healing process. Release of mental and emotional stress can happen as this restructuring occurs.
To get the most out or your chiropractic care
Be aware of your body not only during but also after your adjustments. Tuning into your body and its specific requests about rest, exercise and food is an effective way to use your adjustments to heal. Things you have been doing that have been good for you will feel even better, while other aspects of your life that have not been serving you well will become more apparent with a clear nervous system. Healing is not always comfortable; it involves going beyond your usual frame of consciousness. It involves looking at yourself face to face, then going beneath the surface and checking in with the real you.
On subsequent visits
To allow your body to integrate and process the adjustments with greater ease and comfort, simply remove any leather belts, watches, crystal jewelry, wallets, keys and shoes and place them under the adjusting table. Then sit on the adjusting table and we will soon start your assessment and adjustment process.
Don't plan visits after a heavy meal, or within a few hours of alcohol consumption. Your nervous system will be occupied with digestion and elimination with less attention available for healing. During the adjustment process keeping your eyes closed and breathing as deep as is comfortable will help reduce conscious thoughts, which often distract you from your feelings and your healing process.
Above all do not try. Do not force anything. Just be with the process and you will naturally participate in your healing journey. Enjoy!
