Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractors look after your spine and nervous system, which are essential to your health and wellbeing. Chiropractors are trained in a number of gentle adjusting techniques, using hands, tables and instruments. These techniques all aim to return the bones in the spine to their proper positions, allowing them to move freely and the nervous system to communicate as it should, enabling the systems in your body to function at their best. Each case is individual so chiropractors often use a combination of adjustments. Feel free to ask your chiropractor what they are doing and how.

Activator Technique

Activator: Activator Activator is one of the most widely used, low force techniques in chiropractic. This small instrument delivers a controlled, light, fast thrust giving a precise adjustment in the specific place it is needed.

Activator is often used in conjunction with other chiropractic techniques to restore spinal balance safely and comfortably. This gentle and consistent adjustment has been used for almost 40 years to benefit those with a wide range of health problems. For more information about the Activator technique ask your chiropractor or click here: Activator Technique

Gonstead Technique

Gonstead: Gonstead The Gonstead technique uses basic principles to correct misalignments in your spine resulting in a healthier you. Strong foundations mean durability and a long life; your body's foundations are your lower back and pelvis which balance your spine, which in turn affects your entire body.

Your chiropractor will examine you thoroughly, possibly using x-rays, to recognise and correct misalignments in your spine. Your body is used to healing itself but sometimes it just needs a bit of help to get things back into place. Your chiropractor is trained to deliver gentle and precise adjustments by hand which are accurate and painless. Chiropractic adjustments using a drop table

Drop Table: Drop Table Your chiropractor may ask you to lie face down on a table with 'drop sections'. When they deliver a quick thrust by hand to your spine, a small section of the table drops at the same time. This allows for a more gentle and comfortable adjustment.

Network Spinal Analysis - NSA

NSA is a relatively new and increasingly popular approach to health and wellbeing. It is a gentle, low force technique that is suitable for all ages and is especially good for those who are less comfortable with manual adjustments.

In our recent TBC newsletter we featured an excerpt from an article written by Dihan Wijewickrama on the Network technique. To read the full article click here: Network article

NSA uses light pressure contacts on the spine to help make the brain and spinal cord aware of subluxations and to start relaxing and unwinding them. NSA uses gentle pressure as it affects the delicate spinal cord and does not move bones as in traditional chiropractic techniques.

NSA patients can sometimes be adjusted with other patients at the same time. This is because people tend to respond better and benefit more from a group adjustment. NSA allows you to keep improving with care, namely you become more aware and self correcting with each adjustment.

NSA Cleardays
Dr Inga Schmidt holds NSA Cleardays twice a year at Tasman Bay Chiropractic with other local chiropractors, where you can find out about NSA and experience a group adjustment. It also features relaxation and deep breathing exercies. It is not unusual for there to be plenty of laughter and emotion when tension is released.
"I couldn't believe what a difference it made being adjusted at the same time as others; the atmosphere was amazing."

NSA can help to:

Improve your physical wellbeing
• increase flexibility
• reduce tension and stiffness
• increase energy
• improve immunity
Improve your ability to handle stress
• emotional wellbeing
• family relationships
• coping with work and finances

This in turn leads to a more positive and a better quality of life, together with good nutrition and regular exercise.
