Kiwi blokes are well known for putting up with a sore back, aches and pains and old injuries. We aren’t good at going for a warrant of fitness until things are pretty bad.
We typically put up with discomfort or talk ourselves out of noticing that we can’t do the things that we used to do when we were younger. It usually takes a long time before we decide to do something about it!
When we think about it, it is pretty logical. First of all, we need to get things structurally correct so that we can get the benefit of physical activity, rather than it adding to the problem. A lot of those old sporting and workplace injuries that we have put up with for years and suspect we have to tolerate for ever can by significantly improved. We then have a platform and the motivation to move onto the next item on the list.
